Derry City Reserves have been handed a home tie in the quarter finals of the Knockalla Caravans Cup.
The Candy Stripes comfortably beat Aileach FC from the Inishowen League three nil at the weekend, with Carndonagh teenager Cathal Farren netting his first hat trick in a candy striped jersey.
Kevin Mahon’s side, runners-up in last year’s Knockalla Cup, will now face Drumoghill FC in the last eight of the competition. The Donegal League outfit caused a shock in the previous round defeating Ulster Senior League side Letterkenny Rovers by three goals to two, with striker Paddy Rafferty the man of the moment, scoring all three goals.
The last time these clubs met was at the same stage of the competition in 2010. On that occasion, Derry travelled to ‘The Moss’ and came away with a 2-1 win after extra time, to secure a place in the semi-finals.
The 2016 Knockalla Cup Quarter Finals are due to be played week ending March 13th.
