Derry City forward Ronan Curtis has been called up to the Republic of Ireland Under-21 squad for the UEFA U21 Championships Qualifying Round fixture with Kosovo on Saturday 25th March.
Ronan is a former Derry City Under-19 player and is currently a prominent member of Kenny Shiels’ first team panel at the Brandywell.
Curtis, signed for the Candy Stripes from Donegal outfit Swilly Rovers and made his Under-19 debut in a two nil win away to Letterkenny Rovers in September 2013, finishing his first season at the club with eight goals.
The 20-year-old has excelled in Derry’s player development programme and went on to score seventeen goals in the 2104 season, were the Under-19 side disappointingly finished runners-up in three competitions – the Northern Elite Division, Enda McGuill Cup and the National League Final.
The talented forward harbours hopes of securing a move across the water and a call up to the Republic of Ireland U21 squad can only help him to fulfil that ambition.
Curtis, from St. Johnston, and Finn Harps Ethan Boyle are the only two home-based players in Noel King’s panel.
The Irish team will host the Kosovans at Tallaght Stadium on Saturday, 25 March, kick-off 13:00, in their opening game of the 2019 UEFA U21 Championships qualifiers.
