Derry City U19s defeated Finn Harps 2-0 at Wilton Park on Saturday afternoon, thanks to first-half strikes from Cathal Farren and Adrian Delap.
With Republic of Ireland Under 19 manager Tom Mohan keeping a keen eye on proceedings from the sideline, Derry opened the scoring on 34 minutes with a long range effort from Cathal Farren, his 7th goal in 7 games, before doubling their advantage on 41 minutes. Adrian Delap was sent clear down the right flank after playing a superb one-two with Cathal Farren. Delap continued his run into the box before calmly sliding the ball under Harps keeper McCarron.
The Candy Stripes more than deserved the three points and have won their last four games against Athlone Town, Drogheda United, Monaghan/Cavan FP and Finn Harps.
This win moves City above Bohemians and St Patrick’s Ath – who face each other on Sunday – into third place in the table with fifteen points from seven games.
Next weekend Derry play their final fixture before the mid-season break, when they travel to Dublin to face Bohemians.
