Congratulations to Derry City U19 captain Sam Todd on making his competitive first team debut this evening, coming on as a second half substitute against FC Midtjylland.

Sam is a commanding centre-back who is equally comfortable playing at left back and has been one of the standout performers for the Under-19s this season. His senior debut is just reward for all his hard work and commitment since signing for the club three years ago.

He joined Derry from his local club Carndonagh FC, turning out for Derry Colts in the NIBA National Youth League for the 2014/15 season before continuing his development by joining up with Derry City U19s in September 2015 for the start of the Airtricity National League interim season.

The 19-year-old is also a product of the hugely successful Inishowen Youth & Schoolboys Academy and is the latest in a long line of players to proudly represent Derry from the Inishowen Peninsula.

Well done Sam.
