Derry City Reserves will play their second game in the Donegal News League Cup this evening at Dry Arch Park.

The City second-string drew 1-1 with Cockhill Celtic in their opening fixture two weeks ago with Adrian Delap scoring for Derry.

A win this evening with seal the Candy Stripes a place in the semi-finals.

Kick-off is down for 7.30pm.

Derry City Reserves were held to a 1-1 draw by Cockhill Celtic in the Donegal News League Cup tie played at Brandywell on Sunday.

USL: Finn Harps Reserves 1-1 Derry City Reserves

Derry City Reserves drew 1-1 with Finn Harps Reserves in an entertaining Ulster Senior League clash at Diamond Park, Ballyare, on Tuesday evening.

Derry went in front on 40 minutes when Gianni Seraf drilled home from close range (see video) but within 2 minutes Harps were level, Pat Loughrey firing past Houghton with a neat finish.

Both sides had chances to claim the three points in the second period but were wasteful in front of goal and had to settle for a point.

Gerardo Bruna, Gianni Seraf and Conor McDermott all played the 90 minutes.

Derry City Reserves: Daniel Houghton; Rhys McDermott, Ronan Boyce, Connor Gormley, Jack Parke; Evan Tweed, Gerardo Bruna; Conor McDermott, Shane McNamee, Gianni Seraf; Sean McBride.

Congratulations to Derry City’s Jack Malone on winning the Ulster Senior League player of the month award for January.

Malone is having a superb season for City’s second string side and is on the cusp of Declan Devine’s first team panel.

Man of the Match performances against Letterkenny Rovers and Finn Harps Reserves have been rewarded with this fully deserved accolade.

Letterkenny Rovers prove too strong for a youthful Derry City Reserve outfit

A youthful Derry City Reserves side crashed out of the Donegal News League Cup following a comprehensive defeat to Letterkenny Rovers at Leckview Park on Sunday afternoon.

In truth, Eamonn McConigley’s men cruised into the semi-finals, their 3-1 victory was far more comfortable than the scoreline would suggest.

City lined out with Nathan Gartside wearing the number one jersey and with both Adrian Delap and Shane McNamee, who recently penned three-year deals at the club, also named in the starting eleven.

Two late goals from centre-back Rhys McDermott (pictured above) helped Derry City Reserves to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Finn Harps Reserves in the Donegal News USL League Cup tie played at Templemore on Tuesday evening.

The Candy Stripes opened the scoring on the hour mark when Ballybofey man Sean McBride rifled home from 12-yards following some superb play by Adrian Delap on the right flank.
