The Republic of Ireland schoolboy international delivered a clinical display in front of goal, playing a part in seven of the eight goals scored. McBride scored four and added three assists to help send the Candy Stripes to a record breaking win, securing their biggest winning margin since the inception of the Under-19 league in 2011.

Substitute Matty Doherty also played his part in the emphatic victory, scoring a fine second half hat-trick, with Cathal Farren also getting his name on the score sheet.

Derry made three changes to the side that defeated Drogheda last time out. Under-17 captain Kieran Farren came in to replace Sam Todd who was on first team duty. There was also a starting role for Paul Doherty at centre half and goalkeeper Jason McCallion came in for his second competitive appearance.

Derry completely dominated the first half but had to wait until the 34th minute to open the scoring. McBride whipped in a pin point diagonal cross to the feet of Cathal Farren at the back post. The Carndonagh man made no mistake, taking one touch and converting to register his twentieth goal for the Under-19s.

Three minutes later City doubled their advantage, Stephen Duffy sent Ronan Wilson clear with a sublime return pass on the edge of the box. Wilson squared a cross across the face of goal to the unmarked McBride, he adjusted his feet to fire a left footed shot high into the top corner giving the keeper no chance.
